MDRS Spaceward Bound Crew 52
Spaceward Bound is a two-week student training and research mission to the Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS) in Utah. Crew members are expected to plan all aspects of the expedition, including learning how to get along "off the grid." They are involved in all aspects of mission planning from logistics, to research, to Advanced Extravehicular Activities training. Student training and research missions generally take place in the fall.

“My fascination with Astrobiology began during my sophomore year as an undergraduate student at Tennessee State University. Shortly after my introduction to this new and exciting field, in the form of a research opportunity funded by NASA, I began my journey in "astrobiotechnology" - applying technology to the questions of astrobiology. One of the most rewarding aspects of astrobiotechnology is the interdisciplinary environment that is formed as a result of bridging the gap between science and technology.
As a student at the University of Washington
My current research, as a graduate student in the Science and Technical Communication department at the University of Washington, focuses on the development of tools using various Usability Engineering principles. The skills I have acquired in User Interface Design and Human Computer Interaction will prove beneficial in the planning and execution required during the transition from robotic rovers to human exploration.”
