The Logic Model is a strategy that aligns the evaluation with the project design
and goals (Kellogg Foundation, 2001). The Logic Model uses a visual representation to
encourage dialogue, questioning, and program modifications among all the grant’s stakeholders.
Using this tool, grant activities are optimally aligned with the expected outcomes taking into
account the perspectives of research scientists, teachers, students, and the curriculum designers
(Kuner, et al., 2006). Evaluation instruments and outcome measures will be informed by the
AAAS Science Education Standards, research on teaching modifications for minority students
(Lee, et al., 2005; Lee & Lynch, et al., 2005; Tharp, et al. 2000, 2003), learning frameworks
(Bransford, et al., 2000), and best practices for teacher professional development (Guskey, 2000;
Kirkpatrick & Kirkpatrick, 2006; National Staff Development Council, 2001). |
